Book about machine knitting patterns
Hi, I am Bertha Kok and would like tell you about my knitting book. When I bought my knitting machine it was in the time before calculators and computers. Every time I had to work out my pattern the old fashion way. When I bought my pocket calculator it was so much easier and quicker.
In the late eighties computer was coming in, only a few people had one. I gave all the finished measurement of my jerseys to a computer graduate and he wrote a very complicated program.
The drop shoulder armhole length is the same as the raglan, but the the shoulder and sleeve is different.
The armhole of the set-in sleeve is shorter and the jersey must fit nicely over the shoulder the sleeve must have a nice fit. There was always a lot of calculations to work out a perfect set-in sleeve. But not any more.
I test and knitted the patterns and the jerseys fits very well. The patterns was printed and I make a little diagram and write the info on it. But the I asked a friend Ann to draw the pattern parts, I fill it in and a friend typed it in. I was very pleased because it worked so well. I was giving machine knitting classes and my friends asked be to write a book with all my hints. I wanted to put my diagrams on the computer so that I could print it, but the quality was so poor that I left everything for years and concentrate on other hobbies and interests.
But a few months ago I told Tony of WeWEB about my book and how I wished I could put it on a Web page. And showed him the poor quality of my prints. He SAID: Bertha I will help you to finish your book and will make good quality scans with a very high resolution, but it will take a long time, sent Reinard, you grandson that I can taught him how to do it.
I start working on my text ready read it again and put in more info. I asked friends to Edit it for me. English is my second language. In my book I tell you how to knit a tailored jersey.
Because I am quite busy I stitch my jersey with a sewing machine with very good results. You will save a awful lot of time.
I also tell you how to finished a jersey with a over locker and tell you how to do it. With a lot of very handy tips.
Today I am very proud of my book. I don’t know of a similar book with jersey for size 3 months to 12 years. Men and Ladies patterns from size 82 tot 127 cm. Over 210 patterns all this in 3- and 4 ply.
If you knit a tension sample and the rows and stitches are the same as that diagram, you finished garment will fit perfect. All the problems was solved and the thinking was done, you could just start knitting.
I am very happy to speak to you and tell you about my knitting book., and are sure this would be the best, basic Machine Knitting patterns on diagram book. Enjoy you knitting and every thing of the best for you. Good buy.
